IMDB rating: 7.20 Plot: Traveling raccoon con artist, RJ (Willis), arrives in a woods outside a human city in the Midwest, excited about the wonders that living near humans can bring hungry animals. What he finds, however, is an Amish-like community that is deathly afraid of humans, after their leader, Vern the tortoise (Shandling), has an encounter with human boys that terrifies him. Encouraged by RJ, however, the animals slowly venture over the hedge that separates them from the brand new suburban development that appeared over the winter while they were sleeping, and what RJ shows them is a whole new world where humans leave tin cans full of fish and other food in big canisters, ripe for the taking. As they get closer and closer to humans, however, their comfortable lives in the woods appears to be threatened… |

Why do we live in a system in which hedge fund manager John Paulson can make more money than the total of …?
Why do we live in a system in which hedge fund manager John Paulson can make more money than the total of the salaries of every police officer, firefighter, and public school teacher in Chicago?
Why is any attempt to fix the system is called socialism?
It’s another case of the market’s sometimes perverse incentives. Surely, corporations could have stepped in to reward Norman Borlaug, the man behind the green revolution, for his work that saved 1 billion people.
Instead, millions and indeed billions in the case of Paulson are given to people who move money around for short-term gain.

Because in the US, we don’t try to limit wealth and prosperity. That’s why.

It sounds like the police officers, fire fighters, and teachers are in the wrong line of work.

Should Hollywood actors make 20 million dollars for a movie?

Because it usually is socialism.
That’s kind of like asking, "If your body has a lack of oxygen, why is the solution called breathing."
Whenever there is a claim of inequality in pay compensation, then it’s usually a cry from a socialist/communist viewpoint, steeped in that failure of an economic system created by Marx.

What about all the over paid salaries of ball players, actors, directors etc. You are free to start a hedge fund if you are smart enough to. If you are going to go after the rich people it is time you went after all not just corporate managers and wall street.

Because of the amount of wealth he created for his clients. Hedge fund managers are typically paid 1-2% of the profits of the fund they manage. So multiply his pay by 50 or 100 and that is how mcuh money he made for his customers.
As an investor I have no problem with rewarding the senior management of the companies I own stock in if I feel that they are doing a good job and creating wealth and value. A five million dollar bonus for a management team that grew the value of a company by 500 million is a pittance.
