Skittish cat………….?
How does one help a cat that’s really skittish? Gets a fright for everything (but gets chased by a sibling cat too?)
Try keep the cat chasing the skittish on from chasing the skittish cat. And don’t make loud banging noises…But serious, I enjoy making loud banging noises and playfully chasing cats so I’m a bad person to ask.

well convert it show it that you are there to save it from anything that is going to happen to it and it will be fine even force the cat to come to you and then show her or him that you there for it

i have a cat that gets scared a lot. He hides when company comes over. He just turned 6 and is just now starting to come out a bit when people come over. not sure why he was ever that scared or why he starting to get better, I would just say to give it time and try to keep the other cat away from it as much as you can.

Some times it’s part of their personality. Some cats are very laid back, while others are nervous. Some cats like to be held, others hate it.
The best thing you can do is accept him the way he is. Don’t ignore him, but don’t pamper him either. If you insist on forcing the cat to come to you, all you will do is make matters worse and cause him to think he was right in being afraid of you.

there’s nothing you can do about it, unfortunately. we’ve had my cat oliver for 9 years, and he’s still skittish, and belle, our 10 year old cat, still chases him around.
It could just be from it’s lineage. I know russian blues are really skitzy, and oliver is mostly russian blue.

I have an extremely skittish cat, Queenie. She is very shy, nervous and also gets scared by anything. I believe that it is her personality that causes her to be this way. She is also tiny, looks like a kitten but is 3 yrs old, so it may be that her size makes her feel insecure. Our other cat Jazz is a purebred Russian Blue (love those Russian Blues!!!) and he is kind of skittish. Only somewhat. He’s friendly with strangers but cautious. Loud noises make him run. Our other cat Button is totally relaxed. I believe it’s because he’s the alpha cat. Multiple cat household have hierarchies. I recommend the book Cat vs. cat, it’s got a lot of good insight.
Try using Feliway spray or diffuser. It may help calm your cat.
