Cake Eaters, The
Cake Eaters, The (2007)

IMDB rating: 7.70

Plot: ‘The Cake Eaters’ is a quirky, small town, ensemble drama that explores the lives of two interconnected families coming to terms with love in the face of loss. Living in rural America, The Kimbrough family is a normally odd bunch; Easy, the patriarch and local butcher, is grieving over the recent loss of his wife, Ceci, while hiding a secret ongoing affair for years; Beagle, his youngest son who was left to care for his ailing mother, works in the local high school cafeteria by day but has a burning passion inside that manifests itself through painting street signs; and the eldest son, Guy, has been away from the family for years while pursuing his rock star dream in the big city until the day he learns of his mother’s passing and that he’s missed the funeral. Upon Guy’s return home, relationships between the characters begin to unravel; Beagle’s pent up emotions connect with Georgia Kaminski, a terminally ill teenage girl wanting to experience love before it’s too late; Easy’s long time affair with Marg, Georgia’s eccentric grandmother, is finally exposed to the Kimbrough children; and Guy discovers that, in his absence, his high school sweetheart, Stephanie, has moved on and started a family of her own. Through it all, The Kimbroughs and Kaminski’s manage to establish a new beginning in the face of their greatest fears.

"The Cake Eaters" has Kristen Stewart, Aaron Stanford, Jayce Bartok, and Bruce Durn?
Does anyone know why this movie is called "the cake eaters"? Does cake eater mean something? I looked it up in the dictionary and it’s not there

I looked on movie websites before seeing it some months ago, I got the answer but I’ve forgotten it. I know it has something to do with the residents of the town and all of their little secrets. You’ll have to watch the movie to know what I mean. Just a heads up, the ending sucks, and it’s a pretty pointless movie.

Religious questions. Hate mail Welcome just don't be too mean.?
The belief in "god" seems to be ubiquitous through the ages.

We know, for example, that the ancient Egyptians believed in their gods so fervently that they built massive structures like the Great Pyramid — still today one of the largest and most enduring human constructions ever created. Despite that fervor, however, we know with complete certainty today that the Egyptian gods were imaginary. We don’t build pyramids anymore and we do not mummify our leaders.

More recently we know that tens of millions of Romans worshiped Jupiter and his friends, and to them they built magnificent temples. The ruins of these temples are popular tourist attractions even today. Yet we know with complete certainty that these gods were imaginary because no one worships Zeus any more.

Much more recently, we know that the Aztec civilization believed in their gods so intensely that they constructed huge temples and pyramids. In addition, Aztecs were so zealous that they were sacrificing hundreds of human beings to their gods as recently as the 16th century. Despite the intensity, however, we know today that these gods were completely imaginary. The Aztecs were insane to be murdering people for their gods. Killing a person has no effect on rainfall or anything else. We all know that. If the Aztec gods were real, we would still be offering sacrifices to them.

Today’s "God" is just as imaginary as were these historical gods. The fact that millions of people worship a god is meaningless.

The "God" and the "Jesus" that Christians worship today are actually amalgams formed out of ancient pagan gods. The idea of a "virgin birth", "burial in a rock tomb", "resurrection after 3 days" and "eating of body and drinking of blood" had nothing to do with Jesus. All of the rituals in Christianity are completely man-made. Christianity is a snow ball that rolled over a dozen pagan religions. As the snowball grew, it freely attached pagan rituals in order to be more palatable to converts. You can find accounts like these in popular literature:

* "The vestiges of pagan religion in Christian symbolic are undeniable. Egyptian sun disks became the halos of Catholic saints. Pictogram’s of Isis nursing her miraculously conceived son Horus became the blueprint for our modern images of the Virgin Mary nursing Baby Jesus. And virtually all the elements of the Catholic ritual - the miter, the altar, the doxology, and communion, the act of "God-eating" - were taken directly from earlier pagan mystery religions."

* "Nothing in Christianity is original. The Christian God Mithra’s - called the Son of God and the Light of the World - was born on December 25, died, was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days. By the way, December 25 is also the birthday or Osiris, Adonis, and Dionysus. The newborn Krishna was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Even Christianity’s weekly holy day was stolen from the pagans."

It is extremely hard for a Christian believer to process this data, but nonetheless it is true. All of the "sacred rituals" of Christianity, and all of Christianity’s core beliefs (virgin birth, resurrection, etc.) come straight from pagan religions that were popular around the time of Jesus. Articles like this and this can help you learn more. Once you understand the fundamental truth of Christianity’s origins, the silliness of this whole thing becomes apparent.

Obviously the pagan believers, from whom Christianity derived its myths, worshiped gods that were imaginary. And thus our "God" today is just an extension of these imaginary forerunners. All human gods are imaginary.

These Facts are True, This Is what I believe Christianity is. I want the opinions of other people. I know, That This seems biased, and I probably am a little biased but, So are a lot of christians too. So don’t bother with the Prejudices of atheists.

=Rules=

1) Please don’t try to expose loopholes or something like that to get around the question. That doesn’t answer the Question.
2) Don’t say it’s not comparable either. I get that A lot with these questions and they never seem answer them.
Uhh there’s been a lot of stupid people answering this questions and I can tell most of you didn’t even read through the whole explanation.

I think that it is important to acknowledge that these attacks are against all Christians and not just Catholics, although they attack Catholicism in particular. Some seem to be suggesting that if it had not been for syncretism between pagan religions and Catholicism that all Christians would be Arians based on the information that some pagan religions had beliefs similar to Christian Trinitarian beliefs therefore the Trinity is wrong and Arius was right. If I was to list all of the pagan religions that believed in oneness as did Arius and his modern day heretical followers, would that prove that Arius was influenced by Pagans and thus heretical for his beliefs and practices? I pray all can see the folly of such arguments. Are we to accept such comparisons which persuade only by their volume those that are ignorant and not on the truthfulness and application of the comparisons but on the gullibility and prejudice of the hearer?

Other claims are not based on pagan religious practices but on Platonic philosophy. Certainly there was an influence of Greek philosophical thought in the early Church as the early Christians even in Jerusalem had contact with the diaspora Jews who were the early converts to Christianity. St. Paul was one of them. However, the argument for Hellenistic influence falls apart when one realizes that Jesus taught what would be understood to be Hellenistic influence if it was not for the realization that it was not only the Greek

Can you recommend some books?
Hi! I’m a fifteen year old girl, and I LOVE reading. But lately I’ve been having trouble picking books to read. Here are a few titles and series that I like:

Warriors series and Seekers series by Erin Hunter
Inkheart, Inkspell, and Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke
No More Dead Dogs by Gordon Korman

These are just a few, but I think you get the idea.

Here are the things I will NOT read:
Twilight, no matter how many people tell me how good they are. I just don’t have any interest at all in vampires.
I won’t read anything with excessive language and cussing, or anything with a lot of sexual content.
Please can you recommend some books? I’m going crazy without anything to read! Thanks!

Ohh when I was 17 I read 2 books written by Paullina Simons and have never forgotten them. They are amazing!

(I also am not a fan of Twilight or that kind of book.)

The first one is called "The Bronze Horseman" and the sequel is called "Tatiana & Alexander"

I’ll send you the link to her website but don’t be discouraged from the "back of the book". When I read what they were about I wasn’t too thrilled but my sister insisted I read them and they were so incredible for a young woman to read :)

Please take my advice ! hehe

By reading these messages, do you think that they are planning on having sex?
okay so this is between a 16 year old guy and 16 year old girl, the guy recognized her on the bus and she in his middle school for 1 year and they started talking on facebook. They haven’t seen eachother in over 4 years and never talked in middle school.
In the beginning they just talk about the schools they went to and that she recognized him too, and saw him, and how many times they moved etc. Then after it starts like this:

(guy) after talking a few sentences about the schools he went to and where he didnt like going, and how he had to get his own place because his dad was phyco he said lol well we should hang out some time.

(girl)
yeah lots of ppl there are not my kind of ppl :P i know a few people that go to (school name) seems like a pretty sweet school. **** i wouldn’t wanna wake up that earlier! and oh that’s not good :( at least you’ve moved them out of your life.. i wish i was on my own especially lately my mom is being a bigger ***** than normal lol but my family is a lot better than it was before so i guess that’s a plus. and yeah for sure do you drink or anything ?

(GUY)
Yeah waking up was badd but I was pretty determined to go to school lol. I need to graduate! (school name) would be the only option anyways I think, Its not too far from where, just 1 bus and like 3 stops on the skytrain so no big deal. Yeah I drink sometimes but I used to do a bit of dumb **** last year that I won’t do again. next weekend if you want I can show you my place and we can drink and just hangout? I haven’t gotten drunk since halloween =l

(girl)
Yeah for sure what day are you free?

(guy)
weekend or weekday? I don’t know what I’m doing all this week and weekend so any day lol. When are you free?

(girl)
Friday is best! Where abouts do you live?

(guy) yeah friday sounds good! is there anything in particular you like drinking? I got a bit but there’s a liquor store close to my apt. I live near (street name etc)

(girl)
m fine with whatever really, do you know (another girl’s name)?

(guy)
no I don’t think so lol, who is she?

(girl)
i thought you might have met her. she just asked what im doing on friday so i was wondering if her and her guy friend could come down with me

(guy)
umm well to be honest I kind of wanted to just get to know you better =l. .and I just don’t really like people coming to my place I don’t know or have never met before. hope you understand though!

(girl)
oh yeah it’s okay i understand, i just was wondering cause she asked me :Pi wouldn’t want a bunch of ppl i dont know either. would i be staying the night? because if not i gotta find a place to crash.

(guy)
Yeah it wouldn’t be a problem, its 2bedrooms and I got furniture and stuff so I’m obviously not going to let you sleep outside in the rain somewhere lol :P. I’m sure it will be fun though!

(girl)
alrighty sweet :) and haha i wasn’t gonna sleep in the rain i would jsut go over to a friends. i think i might know what apartments you’re talking about. a friend used to live up by there. and yeah im sure it’ll be fun aswell :)

So by reading all that do you think they are going to or want to have sex?? Me and my friend are looking over it lol, I need your guy’s opinions thanks!!

lets also say this guy is not the "typical’ 16 year old, he looks like he’s 25 and very good looking, very big and muscular, and also known as a player in the area he lives in.

Gremlins
Gremlins (1984)

IMDB rating: 6.80

Plot: Gremlins begins with inventor Rand Peltzer trying to find a quick gift for his son Billy before returning home from a New York trip. He settles on a unique pet in a Chinatown curio shop—a cute, furry creature known as a Mogwai. Before he leaves, he is warned by the shop’s owner that three rules must be obeyed by a Mogwai owner: 1) Keep it away from bright light, 2) Don’t get any water on it, and 3) Never, never ever feed it after midnight. Rand takes note of these rules and returns home with the Mogwai to his idyllic small-town home of Kingston Falls. Rand’s gift is an instant hit: Billy loves his adorable new pet, naming it Gizmo and taking it everywhere he goes. Unfortunately, he and his friends also begin breaking the rules of Mogwai care. When water is accidentally spilled on Gizmo, it causes him to multiply and produce a number of mischievous little brothers. Among these is the mean-tempered Stripe. Soon enough, the new Mogwai get hold of some food after midnight and this causes them to change from cute fur-balls into nasty, scaly monsters dubbed ‘Gremlins.’

Spark arcing through sparkplug boot 1.9 escort '93?
I’ve had a gremlin for a while and thought it was an idle air valve, when replaced no fix. It has gotten worse to the point it will die sometimes or at least surge very bad. I ran it at night finally and saw the fireworks between wires and cyl. head, so I changed the wires and then it arced down through the boot to the cyl head. I thought plugs, but new ones no fix. I thought coil could be somehow so replaced but no fix. checked connection to spark control module and it’s still virgin inside. I added a ground from cyl. head to battery, but no fix. I am going to return the wires and try another set, but is there anything else I could be missing? They are all the way seated and there is dielectric on the boots. Thanks
Do you idiots even read or do you just post the same stupid shit for generic fixes, I’ve had 3 sets of wires and two sets of plugs and used dielectric grease every time, fucking moron

Sounds like wires to me. Try using some dielectric grease on the boots when you change them out.

EDIT: Hey you stupid fuck, fuck off! You said yourself you were going to try another set of wires and didn’t say a goddamn thing about dielectric grease! Don’t ask a fucking question, if you don’t want an answer, mother fucker!

Can someone help me find the name or title of this horror movie?
Hey guys I would like to find this movie but i don’t know the name, here is a description:

I remember candles and a menorah, gargoyles
-there was a mother who went to some dead place, like an old abandoned building or house , and it was covered in writing of the devil , she had a girl who was evil. Saw gargoyles or demons every time she looked outside the window with the candle. Some people went to the mothers house to take the girl away, the mother kicked them out, the little girl was gone, but the mother saw demons outside the window. The little girl would draw evil things.

I think this movie is old, ugh i just don’t remember the name.

she would also notice evil statues outside her window

she got into an car accident, and when the mom woke up, the girl was gone, and she would see the statues outside her window

im not sure if it was a girl or boy who saw the evil things though could be either

Bridge on the River Kwai, The
Bridge on the River Kwai, The (1957)

IMDB rating: 8.40

Plot: The film deals with the situation of British prisoners of war during World War II who are ordered to build a bridge to accommodate the Burma-Siam railway. Their instinct is to sabotage the bridge but, under the leadership of Colonel Nicholson (Alec Guinness), they are persuaded that the bridge should be constructed as a symbol of British morale, spirit and dignity in adverse circumstances. At first, the prisoners admire Nicholson when he bravely endures torture rather than compromise his principles for the benefit of the Japanese commandant Saito (Sessue Hayakawa). He is an honorable but arrogant man, who is slowly revealed to be a deluded obsessive. He convinces himself that the bridge is a monument to British character, but actually is a monument to himself, and his insistence on its construction becomes a subtle form of collaboration with the enemy. Unknown to him, the Allies have sent a mission into the jungle, led by Warden (Jack Hawkins) and an American, Shears (William Holden), to blow up the bridge.

Directors: Lean David

Actors: Holden William,Hawkins Jack,Guinness Alec,Hayakawa Sessue,Donald James,Horne Geoffrey,Morell Andre,Williams Peter,Boxer John,Herbert Percy,Goodwin Harold,Okawa Heihachiro,Katsumoto Keiichiro,Chakrabandhu M.R.B.,Adventure,Drama,War,

Did the bridge over the river kwai really explode?
in the book "the bridge over the river kwai" the bridge gets destroyed in the end by britishers. Did that happen for real or did Pierre boulle just use his imagination on this part?

Actually the bridge described by Boule never existed. The bridge described in the book doesn’t actually cross the River Kwai. Pierre Boulle had never been to the bridge. He knew that the ‘death railway’ ran parallel to the River Kwae for many miles, and he therefore assumed that it was the Kwae which it crossed just North of Kanchanaburi. This was an incorrect assumption; the bridge actually crosses the Mae Khlung river. so no, it was never destroyed as it never existed.

Does anyone know of a place i can get large frozen food for my retic?
my buddy works at a slaughter house and when he came to visit he brought a frozen pig to feed
my 22 foot retic. i didn’t thank she would eat it but she did. so i would like to get my hands on some more pigs, turkeys, goats whatever i can get. maybe go for that record, beat that 47 footer in Indonesia. lol. also what are the legalities on feeding frozen pigs, goats and turkeys?
a dude about 5 miles form my house got arrested for feeding his burmese puppies, and i don’t wan’a get busted for feeding my snake something i shouldn’t.

if their is a local college in the area with a vet program they probably have a huge freezer full of little goodies! now it wont be easy to get in to the freezer and get out without getting caught so i suggest an elaborate plan similar to what they have on oceans 11 the movie to get a couple frozen animals! good luck.
