Changing Lanes (2002) IMDB rating: 6.50 Plot: An attorney (Ben Affleck) in a rush to make a court appointment to file legal papers involving a multi-million dollar trust accidentally collides with an alcoholic insurance salesman (Samuel Jackson), who also is a rush for a court appointment involving the custody of his children. The attorney leaves the scene of the accident and strands the salesman, causing him to miss his custody hearing. During the process of the post-crash discussion, the attorney accidentally drops the papers he needs to present in court. The judge gives him until the end of the day to present the papers and thus begins a cat and mouse game between the proponents. Dead? Not yet, but i was getting closer every second that ticked away.
Everything has been perfect the last year. He loved me, i loved him.

The headlights of his small blue car were sweeping over the trees has he spun around the curves of the winding back road home. 10:47. Josh was late…his mom would be calling wondering where he was at. He speeded up thinking this thought. As he was speeding down the road he reached over to the passenger seat grabbing his new blackberry. His fingers quickly slid over the small buttons as he sent his last text, that i would soon receive.
One mile up the road from him was a black jeep, also speeding, but this isnt what you would call speeding. This would be called recklessness, because he was in fact intoxicated. Lee kept speeding along, swerving back and forth in between lanes. Then he stopped swerving, he stopped everything…he stopped my life.
Josh was coming around a curve when he was met face to face with bright headlights coming from a black, shiny jeep.
I try to block out everything else not wanting to know exactly what happened to my baby. I try to get the image of the cars tangled together, and his blood, drenched body out of my head. Its all i see, all day, all night.
I slid opened my pink xexon cellphone. 10:47. Josh should be getting home soon. I had my baby blue headphones crammed in both of my ears. i was listening to his favorite song while wearing his red pullover sweatshirt. I was breathing in his smell. It was the sweetest thing that my nose has ever smelled. Feeling a vibration on my leg i picked up my cellphone to read the text message i just received. Picking up the phone i slid it open revealing the words…"i love you."

I’m sixteen years old, and I want to read American Psycho. If I go to the library to check out the book, does the librarian have the authority to not let me check the book out because of the graphic content?

Library cards are issued with a status of adult, child etc. If you have an adult library card that is in good standing (i.e. no outstanding fines), the librarian has no authority to censor your reading material.

Actually, yes, a librarian can, at the risk of their job, deny anyone a book for what they believe is a valid reason. It doesn’t happen often because if they can’t justify the decision they’ll possibly be suspended or fired. I’ve suspended a person’s privilidges to check out books after they’ve vandalized several and denied it. There was a minister who would regularly black out obscene words and when we took away his rights to check out books, he just sat in the reading room and blacked out words in the building challenging us to call the police. Brave guy, but kinda stupid, too.

Would we stop you from checking out the book for content,..possibly,..if you were five. Just don’t make a scene, be cool and it’s cool.

What did you guys think of Food Inc?
Did you watch Food Inc? What do you think about it? Will it change the way you eat, live?
Food Inc. is a movie (dvd now) about how the food that’s shoved in front of us in grocery stores, restaurants, etc…is so tainted with additives, hormones, chemicals etc. that we’re basically being poisoned. It’s about the corruption of governent officials (FDA) who formerly worked for multi national corporations that control food production and have turned farms into factories. It’s about how animals the animals that are used to feed us are abused and the workers who work in food production are abused. It doesn’t surprise me that so many people haven’t heard of the movie. It’s actually quite frightening to watch. Not only are you made aware of the poisons being passed on to you each day when you eat your 3 squares, it reveals the apathy that our own government has concerning the protection of our citizens. I watched it and immediately thought it should be titled, "Food Terrorism" …but that’s just me…Bon Apetite!

What is the funniest/clumsiest thing you've ever done…?
well so a couple of days ago i was at school and me and a couple of friends were walking and i was next to a wall. okay so at my school there are like minipillars attached to the wall that jut out and i walked into one and like hit my face then just kept walking but i won the argument that we were having cuz they were laughing too hard to continue.

also i think it was like last year sometime i was sliding down a ramp thing and i tripped over my SUPER SUPER long jeans and did a faceplant in front of everyone.

oh and one time i was skateboarding and there was a rock and i fell and got like a scrape [not road rash] on my face it was so funny

What should I do if my father is sending me threatening text messages?
Alright, I’m 17 years old and my dad has finally "gone off the edge". He’s been sending threatening text messages to me saying how he’s going to "kick my ass" the next time he sees me.

I go to his house for Christmas this year, go there the morning of the 26th, and get back to my mum’s on the 2nd of January. But I don’t know if I should go to his house or not.

The most recent one said, and i quote, "I’m going to have you for christmas, so on the 26th .. your ass is mine. Whatever’s left of you I’ll just send back to your mum on the 2nd."

Is there anything you can recommend me do to prevent the tension?
Because in all honesty, I’m frightened.

I don’t want to do anything about it legally just yet because he’s only threatening it.

But I just don’t know what to do.

Actually you are old enough to decide what you want to do. Save the text, don’t go to his home for Christmas and if he insists or calls the police, show them the text. I doubt they will enforce this visit. I would also let him know I would not be coming and that if he tries to enforce the visit, that you will show the text to the police.

it would be a good idea to tell other family members. save all threatening texts as evidence. i also would tell the police, just so they have a report of it. i recommend not going if you feel you will be harmed in any way. but if you have to go, have an escape plan.

Trust your Instinct… i think you should stay at your moms house… but it is your dad we are talking about here.. this is a hard one.. but the texts he sending you are really scary. Does he have a history of violent behavior? if so, dont go to his house. Stay with your mom you will be safer. o and tell your mom about the text messages. that’s not okay…it also depends on how you feel about your dad. If you like him and u know want him to be part of your life then dont get the police involved. but since you live with your mom that means she has partial custody of you meaning that if you brought these texts to the police they most likely wouldn’t allow you to stay with your dad anymore. so yea,, TELL YOUR MOM ABOUT THE TEXTS.. so at least she knows. AND ALSO MAKE SURE TO SAVE ALL OF THE THREATENING TEXT MESSAGES SO THERE IS PROOF… in case your dad tries to lie. you never know

if you dont wanna try sumthing like that then just tell him your not going. it doesnt matter if he’s actually done anything about his yet or not….he’s your dad wtf the only reason why i can think hes talking to you like that is because he’s angry at your mum not you.
just dont go…if you feel comfortable enough to tell someone y you dont wanna go then tell them but you dont have to….just say you dont wanna go.
